Personal Exploration and Yoga Retreat Israel

Join Saul Mukhtar of Avayasana Retreats for a unique experience of healing and personal exploration in one of the world’s most spectacular natural landscapes. The Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth and the closest you’ll come to the womb of Mother Nature. Situated at 420 meters below sea level, this hyper-saline lake contains a high concentration of minerals such as magnesium, calcium, bromide and potassium which nourish the skin and relax the nervous system. Sunlight here is naturally filtered due to the low altitude, reducing damage to the skin while providing much needed vitamin D. The Dead Sea region is the world’s oldest natural spa, combining powerful therapeutic elements, stunning natural beauty and compelling ancient history. At Avayasana Retreat, you’ll rest in comfortable accommodations surrounded by the spectacular Judean desert which has attracted dreamers and revolutionaries for thousands of years. Restore your mind with sunrise meditation and expand your physical horizons as you float effortlessly in the pristine waters of the Dead Sea. Unleash the deep healing powers of weightlessness through a set of unique floating techniques that can only be practiced here!

Therapies

Deep floating theta brainwave therapy

Slip into a deep, meditative state while floating. This elusive state can be reached by activating theta brain waves through sound therapy, opening up access to unconscious material, hidden insights and creative inspiration.

Deep floating yoga and pranayama

Discover yoga in the liquid, buoyant environment of the Dead Sea, where the body is liberated from the ongoing struggle against gravity and can effortlessly hold difficult poses for extended durations.

Deep floating mindfulness meditation

Learn to quickly reach a meditative state in the water. Avayasana assisted training sessions are designed to shorten the learning curve so that you can access the power of deep awareness and relaxation on day one.

Deep floating watsu

Relax in a state of bliss as you are cradled, floated, stretched, massaged and rocked in healing waters. This unique bodywork therapy integrates stretching, muscle mobilization, massage, Shiatsu and dance.

Desert yoga

Combine deep floating yoga with practice on land, surrounded by the stillness of the desert. Avayasana offers daily Iyengar yoga classes and hosts group workshops with instructors from many yoga disciplines.

Desert meditation

Still the mind and connect with the source in the sacred Judean desert. It is the perfect place to meditate, free from movement, sound and distractions.

These activities are optional and free of charge. For people arriving for therapeutic purposes, it is highly advised to use these.

Please note some of the above activities are dependent upon favorable weather conditions and water temperature.

Great Yoga sessions with Shaul being a very good teacher! The atmosphere of the lodge in the desert is super unique and relaxing. Together with the time spend at the Dead Sea it’s a perfect retreat to unwind. Loved it very much and would come back any time. Thank you Shaul!

The new location in the desert for the retreat was pure magic. High in the mountains overlooking Dead Sea and in the night one could see all the way the lights of Jordan. If you are looking for quiet and peace this is the place. The lodge is comfortable and neat with amazing beduin character, but it is good to keep in mind that is a eco lodge, not a luxury hotel. Food was very tasty and fresh and enjoyed the trips to the Dead Sea. We were a small yoga group and Shaul gave plenty of individual tips how to do the poses correctly. Extra niceness were the camels and sheep’s passing by with sunsets seen from the yoga shala. I would really recommend this retreat if you seek a special experience! With best regards, Katri - Finland

It is a beautiful region to discover (desert landscapes), while driving to the Dead Sea. Good opportunity to rest, take a break and relax at the Dead Sea; as well as learning and practicing Iyengar, an interesting approach to yoga which was new to me. Saul is a very experienced, patient and dedicated Iyengar teacher.

The deep sense of relaxation and retreat from the maddening crowds... Saul's nurturance, fresh cooked healthy meals, his command of yoga mixed with attention to each individual's level... The escape from all pretentious - this retreat is about connection: one with one's body, one with others, one with the amazing landscape. The Watsu treatment took 30 years off my psyche. Honestly, I feel reborn.
