DeepFloating Pranayama

Pranayama are breathing exercises. In classical yoga, the breath is your life energy. Pranayama literally means ‘extending life energy‘.

During DeepFloating Yoga you’ll listen to a guided Ujjayi breathing session through headphones.

Ujjayi pranayama is know to deeply relax the body and mind, increase blood circulation, bring relief from anxiety, stress and hypertension, improve concentration skills and dramatically increase self-awareness and expanded consciousness.

Yoga Master, B.K.S Iyengar describes the process;

“The sound of the breath as you inhale is regulated at the throat. Emphasis is given not to the amount of air taken in but to the sound and texture of that flow. Smooth consistent flow from beginning to end, without wavering, is attempted and refined until that sound (heard internally, within the ears) both fills the frame of your attention and absorbs the mind .”

Scientific research shows that floating therapies reduce stress, increase relaxation and interoception (internal body-mind connection) — which naturally leads to heightened levels of awareness. Pranayama intensifies this experience.

Traditionally, pranayama is practiced while sitting, though Iyengar noted this was often difficult for beginners, and introduced the option of lying on the floor.

One drawback to lying on land during pranayama is that full expansion of the lungs is hindered by the supporting surface. Practicing in the Dead Sea’s zero-gravity environment allows full three-dimensional extension of the rib cage and lungs.

While practicing pranayama, the Dead Sea’s dense, salty water creates an acoustic shield from the outer world, amplifying your experience— so that you connect more deeply with your inner world.

The Sea is also rich in minerals, (potassium magnesium and bromide), which relax the muscles and soft tissues, making breathing techniques effortless.

With its higher atmospheric pressure, low allergen count, and high oxygen content, the Dead Sea is literally a breath of fresh air!
